A New York witness at Centereach reported watching and photographing a sphere-shaped object just 200 feet off the ground and about a quarter-mile away, according to testimony in Case 81996 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The witness first saw the object looking through a dining room window on February 8, 2017.
“I got my camera and went outside and shot several pictures,” the witness stated. “I used binoculars to observe the object for about five minutes before it faded out.”
The case was investigated by New York MUFON Field Investigators Joseph Flammer and Nicholas Voulgaris, and closed as an Unknown UAV.

“Witness said by telephone that he is retired from law enforcement,” Flammer and Voulgaris stated in their report. “He said the most recent was a sighting of two that were seen from his yard. The previous sighting was two years ago, but not seen by him, but his son-in-law, who also witnessed the current sighting. He said the object he saw was silent. He estimated the size to be about that of a large beach ball. He said, while the object was only about 200-feet high, it was about a quarter of a mile away. He took six photos, all blurry.”
Centereach is a hamlet in Suffolk County, New York, population 31,578.
