A Tennessee witness at Kingsport reported a slow moving, triangle-shaped object moving overhead, according to testimony in Case 81628 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The witness had just left his home about 7 p.m. on January 18, 2017, when the incident occurred.
“As I was putting the key in my car door to unlock it, I glanced up,” the witness stated. “Over our house and a little to the right of it, about 60 degrees up, a series of lights caught my attention. I instantly thought they seemed peculiar. The object to which the lights were attached was a triangle.”
The witness described the object.
“There were white lights on the three points and a red flashing light in the middle. The object was going painfully slow. It proceeded towards Bays Mountain and gently banked to the left (the right side went up a bit) and it proceeded more directly south. I kept hoping someone would come by so I could point it out to them, but no one did. I did glance at my watch to document the time and it was precisely 7:10 p.m.”
The witness attempted to guess at the object’s altitude.
Tennessee MUFON State Director Angelia Sheer and Field Investigator Leonteen Connolly investigated this case and closed it as an Unknown.
“Based on the witnesses’ statements and his interview, I am listing the sighting as an Unknown UAV event,” Sheer and Connolly stated in their report. “I found the gentleman to be an articulate individual who was quite familiar with cosmological activities and could differentiate between stars and planets, natural phenomenon, military and general aircraft and drones. This craft seemed to not fit into any known category.”
