More Reasons to Join MUFON

MUFON is probably organized in your area...

In my experience one reason people join MUFON is because they want to be trained and have the opportunity to investigate cases. They want the hands-on, personal experience of interviewing witnesses, collecting information and analysing it themselves, instead of just reading about what others have done. They also want an outlet for their completed cases and they know they can get them published in the MUFON Journal if they are members. Investigating sightings cases is the best way to become a seasoned investigator--fast. Another reason people join MUFON is they want access to the social network of people in the UFO community. They would like to be on a first-name basis with people they've heard of in the UFO field, and joining MUFON gives them an entre because their SD probably knows a lot of people and can refer them, plus they'll find out about various meetings and conferences at which they will meet people. The UFO community is a dense network of personal relationships, and people want to get involved with it. There are other reasons to join MUFON, but these are two.

MUFON members receive our indepth and well-respected publication...

A person would want to subscribe to the MUFON UFO Journal because it has a long history of providing the most accurate, latest, and most comprehensive information about UFOs of any publication in the world. As the largest UFO organization, with the most extensive network of qualified investigators, MUFON is in a position to obtain accurate UFO reports. In addition, the Journal cooperates and interacts with other individuals and organizations to obtain the latest reports from top investigators. The Journal features regular columns by George Filer, who obtains a multitude of initial reports each month from all over the world; Stanton Friedman, the dean of UFO researchers and speakers; Jenny Randles, the top ufologist in England; and Walter Webb, whose "Night Sky" for the succeeding month provides both enjoyment and needed information for readers and investigators. The Journal also provides general news related to ufology; honest and comprehensive monthly reviews of the latest UFO books by experienced individuals; periodic in-depth profiles of leaders in the field; an up-to-date calendar of UFO events; and the regular "MUFON Forum" where readers contribute their insight. While some of the material can also be found on the Internet, most is exclusive to the Journal--and it is printed in a high quality format which is easy to read and convenient to save for future reference.

MUFON is different. We're real...

It is up to you whether you support sensationalistic tabloid UFO reporting which bear no results in UFOology, or continued scientific investigation. Why is this up to you? Simply stated, many UFO websites post uninvestigated UFO reports on their websites as if they were absolutely true simply because they are in print. While some of these reports may well be true accounts, even so, such sites do little to solve the UFO enigma. MUFON on the other hand offers the following benefits of membership:

1. Scientists, engineers and people with technical backrounds and years of investigation experience to help draw conclusions from the masses of UFO's that are reported annually.

2. The World Wide UFO Database ( WUFOD ) available to members and investigators. This database is the only one online of its type that automatically emails MUFON's web of investigators instantly when a report is entered. As a member you can (1) see on going reports from active investigators, (2) benefit from statistical reports and (3) run your own reports online.

3. MUFON is the largest civilian UFO investigation group in the world. You will benefit from the insights of the other members and be alerted to MUFON's annual symposium that draws UFO investigators, scientists and the interested public from all over the US and the world.

4. The MUFON Journal, a great zine where some of our scientists and investigators give you their conclusions.

5. Your opinion and experiences count. We want your feedback.

Your move...buy a tabloid and see lots of "exciting" but unsubstantiated UFO reports or...get access to investigations, scientists, investigators and decades of reports in WUFOD. Are we for real? Check out just about any book from the library about UFO's printed from the early 70's on, and you will see the organization MUFON Inc. in it. Then go try to find the sensationalistic folks in those same books...you won't. Your move. Help support real UFO research. It's not free, but real research never is. Think about it.
