In any of these cases, a UFO Experiencer Research Team (ERT) can help. An ERT member works with experiencers and UFO investigators to provide support, guidance and education to those who believe they have witnessed an extraterrestrial encounter or alien abduction.
In many instances, people are reluctant to report these types of experiences for fear of being criticized. The Experiencer Research Team at MUFON focuses on non-critical support and helping individuals understand what to expect during these types of investigations.
“Alien abduction is reported, in addition to UFO sightings, in a small percentage of cases filed with MUFON,” states Kathleen Marden, Director of Experiencer Research with The Mutual UFO Network. “It is our job to listen and assist in these investigations, and to do so with compassion for the individual.”
For nearly five decades, MUFON has been actively soliciting UFO reports from the public and systematically collecting and analyzing relevant data from every case through field investigations. The organization receives between 500 and 1,000 UFO reports a month from across the globe. These include, but are not limited to reports of structured craft, orbs of light, entities and alien encounters.
MUFON uses an Experiencer Questionnaire to assist those who believe they have witnessed alien contact. Individuals who complete the questionnaire are contacted by a member of MUFON’s Experiencer Research Team. The ERT helps experiencers in several ways:
- The team can simply be a sounding board, giving the experiencer someone to talk to
- They can assist in finding a professional therapist for individuals, if they are requested to do so
- The team can help experiencers find a support group where they can meet like-minded people and discuss their encounter without fear of judgment
- They also can help experiencers who would like to officially report their event to MUFON
“MUFON is a compassionate organization that strives to assist experiencers any way we can. It’s all about helping the individual cope with what has happened to them.”
