Little did I know that years later, I was going to get the hell scared out of me. I am a Harley man so my girlfriend Betty Jean and I took a two-week scenic ride through Pennsylvania camping out of the bike. We came to a state park called Worlds End Campground of all names. The date was July 14, 2010, a beautiful day with clear skies.
When we went into the recreation center to pay for a camping spot, a Ranger started talking with my girlfriend. To know my gal, you would understand what a great conversationalist she is. As they chatted, I went back outside, got on the Harley and started it. Right away the Park Ranger, in a very serious manner said, “Some would understand a man in my position shouldn't be rudely interrupted when he's being friendly.”
During the conversation, he told us that a big time astrophysics research lab was setting up the big telescopes and the public was invited. I was very interested! So we parted ways with the Ranger, got our camp site and when evening hit, rode over. I wasn't disappointed! Many people were there.
About 15 scopes of various powers were set up. One of the employees heading the big scope was showing Saturn. He was very hyper and I can remember how fast he spoke. It reminded me of a paranoid techno nerd. He was talking about how the government had financed landing on planets that were beyond what I even knew about. I listened as he went on about a moon that had a methane gas and the craft died in mere seconds.
He was using a laser pointer scanning the sky to show us the planet locations. It was very cool indeed! Then, all of a sudden a giant silver craft was in the sky above us. I asked him - was that a sky lab? Confused, he responded, “Nope, it's not supposed to be there. Also Sky Lab isn't that huge either.”
He pointed his laser at it and suddenly a point of light came down about 12 feet right in front of me! The only reason I saw it is I didn't blink on its descent. I stared at it thinking it was possibly a fire fly.
Well it slowly, in a straight line, glided across the face of a dimly lit building. I continued to stare as it seemed to be moving away from me. I felt as though it didn't want me watching it. So from the corner of my eye I watched it. It came back!
Well, at this point, I started to follow it. The rest of the crowd followed the Astrophysicist, and I was alone. I felt almost dazed and confused as I tried to understand this strange orb I was watching. As I was walking away slowly, my gal sees this object and became startled at its appearance. She yelled for me to come back.
At this point I had been staring at it for maybe three minutes - still within 12 feet of my position. When she called, I started to back away, to be honest, I was scared as hell. I had no idea what came over me. It was almost as if it baiting me. I guess I will never know.
I returned to my girlfriend’s side and was quite shaken by the entire event. About a half hour had passed and I finally asked the scientist, “Did you see that?”
He looked at me and said, “I've seen things tonight I can't answer.”
That orb went to the tree tops and away as gently as it could go. Its intensity even from a distance was almost humorous to me. It was still very viewable by eye. So one day I was reading and came across MUFON, became a Field Investigator, and have slowly been learning about the unknown ever since.
I can conclude and imagine. But to live it, priceless.
