It is with mixed feelings that I share with you today that Tom Deuley will be retiring from the MUFON Board at the 2014 MUFON Symposium in Cherry Hill, NJ. Tom has been following the UFO business since 1954. He joined MUFON in the fall of 1976 and has been active ever since. Besides being a former State Director and a member of the MUFON Board for over 25 years, Tom has also been actively involved in the Fund for UFO Research, managing the AMP project for the UFO Research Coalition, and being a serious spokesman for using the scientific approach in solving the UFO enigma. Now, in full retirement, Tom has a strong desire to get back to his roots in the arts and have the time to enjoy the creative side of his life in retirement. We will miss Tom’s enthusiasm, insightfulness, and knowledge of the UFO field, but wish him well on his new ventures in the arts. Tom will attend his last Symposium as a board member at the 2014 MUFON Symposium in Cherry Hill, NJ. Please join me in congratulating Tom on his many contributions to MUFON and his truly outstanding career in Ufology over the past five decades. – Jan C. Harzan

Implant pioneer Dr. Roger Leir, one of the leaders in physical evidence research in the field of Ufology, died Friday, March 14, 2014, after a long illness.
Leir claimed he surgically removed many objects from people and concluded they were alien in origin – a form of nanotechnology.
He was the author of several books, including The Aliens and the Scalpel: Scientific Proof of Extraterrestrial Implants in Humans, and UFO Crash in Brazil.
Dr. Leir also researched UFO cases, including the 1996 Varginha, Brazil, case in which an extraterrestrial was reportedly seen by multiple witnesses and captured by the military, and the 2007-2009 UFO sightings in Kumburgaz, Turkey.
Leir was a Podiatric Surgeon who was in private practice in Ventura County, California, for nearly 50 years. He held academic degrees of Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, Bachelor of Science, and Associate in Arts and was a board certified podiatric surgeon.

MUFON reported yesterday that it has no reports of UFO activity in the vicinity of where Malaysia Flight 370 went missing. Although the plane did disappear, the most likely explanation is that it was either hijacked, or went down somewhere in Malaysia. Our hope for the families of the passengers and crew are that the authorities will be able to locate the plane quickly and end all the speculation regarding this event. If anyone has facts regarding the disappearance of the plane we would encourage them to report those facts to the local authorities as soon as possible.

History's H2 channel release of "Hangar 1: The UFO Files" February 28, 2014, inspired at least one viewer to file a UFO report with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), according to testimony in Case 54384 from the MUFON witness reporting database.
The witness had a UFO encounter about 10 a.m. on July 10, 2012, but had kept details of the incident to himself until a few scenes in the "Hangar 1" show depicted objects that resembled his original sighting. The "Hangar 1" episodes are based on MUFON case files and the first episode was televised just last evening.
