EDITOR’S NOTE: The following report has been taken from the CMS file for an event that occurred on December 25, 2013. Since the witness requested anonymity, identifying information has been removed.
On Dec 25th, 2013, at approximately 9 p.m., the witness, a former businesswoman, was driving home in Woodbury, MN. She was headed north on Century Avenue when she noticed a dark object with strobe lights maneuvering above the golf course across the street from the condo building where she lived. The shape was hard to see due to darkness and obscuring trees. The witness stopped the car and watched, then proceeded very slowly forward. She was close to Pouliot Parkway. After a short time, the object came at her shining headlights which engulfed the car in light. There was darkness as it passed over her car. The witness jumped out and saw two lights about 10-12 feet apart moving away from her at tree top level. Witness wrote: “So it must have disappeared, because I did not see it go anywhere.” This sudden disappearance suggests a possible time discontinuity in the account, or the object turned off its lights, or it may have been suddenly lost from sight because it was at a low altitude and was occluded by the trees. The witness stated she was left terrified and in shock.
Witness was approaching from the south. When she stopped the car, she was located approximately one block south of Parkwood Drive on Century Avenue. This would be at about Pouliot Parkway. There are trees to the west, which agrees with the witness account.
Latitude and longitude per Itouch map were +44.923107 and -92.984415. To be even with the woods to the east of the car, the witness must have stopped the car a little south of the intersection with Pouliot Parkway. I revised the CMS “exact coordinates” to +44.923107 and -92.984415, the car’s approximate location. I also revised the Event Street Address to “Century Avenue and Pouliot Parkway.” The map which corresponds to this revised location is File “53033 map04”. It also shows an estimated location for the object when first sighted and the path it took toward the car.
If the object were over the middle of the golf course when she first saw it, it would have been about 500 meters or 1,600 feet from the witness.
After the object passed close to the car, the witness got out and looked for the object.
She wrote: “I could not see anything but strobe lights but I sensed the presence of the object as being 10-20 feet above me and less than 100 feet from me. It was headed into the woods and there were no street lights in that area.
"But the hospital was two blocks from where I saw it.
"So it must have disappeared because I did not see it go anywhere.”
So it may have disappeared in place or suddenly was lost from sight because it was at a low altitude and was occluded by the trees.
The witness compared the shape to a whale. This would imply an oblong shape. If the length of the object was, say, two to three times the width of the “tail lights” which she estimated were 10 to 12 feet apart, it would have been perhaps 20 to 36 feet long. The object carried strobe lights which were a dull silver. The object appeared to be black. The witness stated it was like a big whale rolling around on the surface of the ocean. It began to turn to the right and came toward her quickly. When the object approached, the witness saw at first two square lights and then one square light coming at her. If the object were over the middle of the golf course when she first saw it, it would have been about 200 meters or 700 feet from the witness. The object apparently passed close to or over the car. The witness pulled over and jumped out of her car, saw strobe lights to the southeast and felt the object to be near tree top level and less than 100 feet away. The witness then suddenly lost sight of the object.
I sent an email to the witness with questions. Witness replied by email:
“Hi Bill, I will be happy to answer all your questions and just so you know, Craig has all this recorded. Yes, the golf course is west. My location on Century was one block south of Parkwood. All the action happened at that location.
The object appeared to be black and was turning to the right. In the next instant, an intense light flooded my car coming though the front windshield.
It seemed there were two square lights and then one square light coming at me. Then I felt like I was in the light. It turned back to night time. I pulled over, got out of the car.
I could not see anything but strobe lights but I sensed the presence of the object as being 10-20 feet above me and less than 100 feet from me. It was headed into the woods and there were no street lights in that area. But the hospital was two blocks from where I saw it. So it must have disappeared, because I did not see it go anywhere. I don’t consider this as a, ‘Hi, we are here!’ I consider this as harassment due to the terror I felt. I was shaking for two days. I also have no clue why there is any interest in me.”
NATURAL OR MAN-MADE?
There is no natural phenomenon which fits the witness account. The possibility of a man-made craft cannot be ruled out, but is considered extremely unlikely.
Temp. 15.1 degrees F; Visibility 10 mi.; Wind: Speed: 8.1 mph, Direction: West; Conditions: Overcast
Suburban, golf course to west of witness and wooded area to the right.
The evidence is all verbal, but the witness account correlates with the terrain and the area.
The witness has exhibited reactions appropriate to what she witnessed.
The witness has a business and education background, and has an Associate of Arts degree.
The witness is considered very reliable.
No cases that might correlate with this sighting were found for the date of the event.
Because the witness account correlates with the details of the area, the witness has exhibited reactions appropriate to what she witnessed, and is considered very reliable, it is concluded the witness experienced a close approach of an unknown aerial vehicle.
