EDITOR'S NOTE: Two Virginia teenage boys were watching television late on June 25, 2012, when something unusual happened.
A light source began shining into their living room and caused them to stand up and investigate.
Field Investigator Norm Gagnon takes us to the scene where the brothers saw a “large, orange light hovering approximately 80 feet off the ground.”
The object was described as circular and between 700 and 900 feet in diameter. Now if that’s not better than TV, I’m not sure what is.

SYNOPSIS: PM reported that on June 25, 2012, he witnessed a large, bright object hovering in the night sky about 300 feet from his backyard and over the newer housing community next door.
OBJECT DESCRIPTION: The object was described as a massive, orange light hovering just behind nearby trees and shortly after, the UFO emitted a bright, white light beam.
PM: “The bright light was so large that it lit my backyard. It did not make any noise, but the trees right below it did move and sway, but there was really no heavy wind that night.”
Wind Speed 4.6 mph (NNW)
Average Humidity 48%
Visibility 10 miles, scattered clouds
Moon – Waxing Crescent (34% illuminated)
LOCATION: Berryville is located in the upper Shenandoah Valley, approximately 11 miles (18 km) south of the West Virginia border. It is a small rural town but growing rapidly. The town is surrounded by mountains, trees and farms.
EVIDENCE/INVESTIGATION: Both the Berryville Police Department and local paper (Clarke Daily Newspaper) were emailed regarding this sighting.
June 29th, received an email reply from Berryville PD Administrative Assistant and she replied:
“I forwarded this correspondence to our dispatch and my department. I have not received any indication anyone witnessed or even heard of this event. If I hear otherwise I will certainly contact you.”
Aside from the force that might have vacillated surrounded trees, PM noted that one residential street light near/below the hovering light was off but all other lights (electricity) was not affected by it.
I asked the witness if he heard anyone in town talking about this incident and he replied by saying, no, and it is a sleepy town and after 10 p.m., most folks are asleep.
CORRELATING CASES: There were two sightings that took place on the same night within the U.S. that the UFO descriptions were akin: MUFON Case# 39824 – Schaumburg, IL, 10:20 p.m. and Case# 39822- Port Angeles, WA, 10:25 p.m.
CONCLUSION: PM never used the term UFO to describe the phenomenon; he simply called it a “bright light”.
On the initial CMS Report, PM wrote that the light at first made him feel terrified, but then he just felt as if as it was supposed to be there.
He did believe the light source was under intelligent control.
PM also stated that this incident was not his first encounter with a strange, hovering light.
When he was six years old, he witnessed a similar object back in 2006 near Stanton, Virginia.
It was similar in appearance, but the only difference was that the light was blinking on and off.
