Investigators Manual: The Field Investigators Kit
by Raymond E. Fowler
The following lists are comprised of items used in UFO Field Investigations. Because of the financial limitations inherent in any voluntary organization, the items have been divided into the three categories of Necessary, Desired and Optional equipment according to priority and/or expense. For example, not everyone can afford to purchase a good Geiger Counter and be professionally trained in its use. Thus, this piece of equipment has been placed in the Optional list. Nonetheless, the State and/or Section Director should contact their local Civil Defense Director or Civil Defense Radiological Monitor. Arrangements should be made to utilize their expertise and equipment. Usually, the Civil Defense is most cooperative in this respect. In some instances, Civil Defense personnel may be interested in becoming MUFON Investigators or Consultants.

4.1 NECESSARY EQUIPMENT
Although the Investigator will generally not always employ all of the items in this list during any given investigation, such items, nevertheless, should be readily accessible to him when the need arises. Thus, it would be advantageous to store these items in a special box, suitcase or briefcase.

The contents of the Investigator's kits are dependent upon the capabilities and resources of the Network talent.
