By Margie Kay - Missouri Assistant State Director
On January 5, 2012, Rancher Casey Hamilton found a mutilated cow yards from the entrance gate to his land near KCI Airport. A veterinarian examined the animal, and determined that the udder and vagina had been removed, that there was no blood on site, and that the cuts were made with a “precision instrument.” The cow had been thrashing around when she died. The vet could offer no explanation as to cause of death.
I asked a friend and police officer Geremy Pearce to assist with the investigation since he had experience with crime scene investigations. Geremy and I noticed immediately that the hard, dry ground was indented where the cow had been found, appearing as if the animal had been dropped from above. The outline of the animal’s body was clearly visible. We took soil samples inside and outside the area and mailed them to MUFON’s Deputy Director of Animal Mutilations Chuck Zukoski. Chuck had the samples analyzed at a lab in Colorado along with samples taken from a recent investigation he completed. Both soil samples indicated that the soil was non-water soluble, meaning that it had been exposed to extreme heat.
This case was reported to State Director Debbie Ziegelmeyer. Debbie and Joe Palermo, Missouri Chief Investigator, and I met the ranchers at this secluded rural property. The ranchers found two cows mutilated at different times. The land owners live on the property and report seeing large craft or balls of light in several locations, which they cannot explain.
One day the wife was doing dishes and noticed a large blue ball of light at the edge of the tree line approximately 300 yards from her window. The large ball of light approached the house, and then went up and over it, illuminating the entire room. She woke up later, sitting on the couch, and saw three entities walk towards her. The ranchers have had several similar strange experiences, and believe that the UFO sightings may be related to the cow mutilations. The cows were mutilated in a similar manner to others; there were precision cuts on the animals, and no blood was found in the area. This case is still under investigation.
In April of 2013 I was contacted by a man regarding his neighbor’s mutilated cow. The rancher’s wife found a deadcow with its udder, tongue, and vaginal area removed and immediately moved the animal to a back part of the pasture. She reported this to her husband, who is a deputy sheriff. Her husband, who wishes to remain anonymous, described his immediate reaction as one of great fear, and he said, “Oh, no, not again.” What he meant by that was that 20 years earlier he investigated three cow mutilations in the county that occurred on three separate ranches within a period of two weeks.
At first he thought that it might be cults doing it, but upon further examination, decided that that could not be the case. The deputy said, “No blood was found at any of the locations and the cuts appeared to have been done by a professional. How do you account for that?” After further questioning, the rancher/deputy revealed that he has witnessed UFOs his entire life. The neighbor and his wife camped out at the location where the cow was found for three nights. The first night they noticed a red glow in the area where the cow was found, yet the glow was gone by the second night.
On July 10, 2013, Lyn Mitchell arrived at her ranch in Northwest Henry County, West of Warrensburg, and found a 6-year-old healthy Black Angus cow lying dead. The cow’s udder, anus, ear, and tongue had been removed with precision, yet no blood or fluids were found on the ground. Lyn called her brother, who forwarded an article on animal mutilations by Chuck Zukowski to her, so she promptly contacted him. Zukowski forwarded the case to me.
This time I asked MUFON Field Investigator Larry Jordan to go along. We visited the site and took soil and grass samples. We immediately noted a strange black, burnt- looking outline around where the cow had been lying on the ground. No samples were taken from the cow, which was badly decomposing and had been moved to a different location. Mitchell related that a calf was found mutilated with tissue and muscle removed from the jaw and the tongue missing in December of 2011 in a nearby pasture.
On July 19, Lyn Mitchell called me to report that yet another of her cows was found dead. Larry and I arrived just after the sheriff and veterinarian completed their investigations. The veterinarian told Mitchell that the teats had been cut from the udder, the tongue was cut out, and an incision had been made between the front legs with the heart nearly outside the body. There was little blood in the chest cavity or heart, and the sac around the heart was missing. The vet said that this was very unusual. The vet explained that he could not identify the cause of death, but that it definitely was not caused by animals due to the precise cuts on the cow. We found no blood on the scene, which would normally be found if the cow had been mutilated at that same location.
I took Missouri MUFON State Director Debbie Ziegelmeyer to the Mitchell ranch on August 13 so she could check the area for radiation with her Geiger counter and see the location. Debbie found no radiation, yet when I checked for EMF readings we found low, yet noticeable readings inside the immediate area where the cows were found, but nothing outside the area. I asked Lyn Mitchell if she experienced anything else unusual at the site and she related that the day before she found the first dead cow she felt like she was being watched – from above – and that she even took pictures of the sky.
She showed us photos of strange looking clouds in the sky. The same type of clouds were in the sky during each of my visits to the ranch. Mitchell said this is the first time she experienced anything like this. Debbie and I each put up a camera trap on the property, aimed in different directions. Mitchell also put up several camera traps in an attempt to get an answer to what was causing these strange events. As we were packing up to leave a very strong gust of wind, maybe 40-50 mph, blew through us, kicking up dust and leaves. We looked at each other, wondering where that came from since it was dead calm.
A week later Larry Jordan and I returned to the ranch to collect the cameras and take a plaster cast of an imprint or footprint Larry found on his earlier visit. After seeing a plaster cast of a Bigfoot owned by Crypto-linguist Scott Nelson, Larry and I wondered if the strange, large imprint might be a possible Bigfoot print. Bigfoot has been reported to be involved in cow mutilations, so we wanted to rule out all possibilities. Unfortunately, the cast did not turn out, but the photos indicate that whatever it was had a very large foot measuring 8 ½ inches wide x 13 inches long without the toes.
The camera traps only revealed one thing – a cougar was visiting the ranch. During this visit several military aircraft flew right overhead, some visible, and some not visible. How could a very loud, low-flying aircraft fly right over our heads in the big, open sky, yet remain completely invisible? I finally realized what the big gust of wind may have been on August 13 – perhaps a SILENT helicopter?
Mitchell is distraught over the loss of her cows. She said, “I don’t understand why someone would want to do this to an animal, or how they accomplished it.” Mitchell said that each cow was worth approximately $2,000, not taking into account the future calves they would have produced. She pointed out that all three mutilated animals were very healthy and the best of her stock.
A rancher in Gasconade County, Missouri, found a dead and mutilated cow on his 200-acre ranch on the morning ofSeptember 6, 2013. The rancher found his 6-year-old Black Angus cow lying on the ground with the rest of the herd gathered around her. The animal had severe wounds: a large cut-out section of the left jaw and cheek with gum tissue removed, the tongue was cut out below the esophagus, the vaginal area was cut out, and part of the udder removed. The only blood or fluids found near the animal were milk and blood near the udder.
The rancher, who wishes to remain anonymous, contacted me after reading my articles at animuteinv.blogspot.com. The rancher is an engineer and worked in a meat packing plant and for a veterinarian as a teen and young man. He said that it would be very difficult for anyone not highly trained to make the cuts that he found on the animal, which he described as being done with surgical precision. The only gate to the property is always locked and no tracks of any kind were found in the tall grasses. He is perplexed at the lack of blood, the surgical cuts, and lack of footprints or tracks, and cannot understand why anyone would do something like this to an animal.
The cow was healthy, but her calf, which had been nursing, was found suddenly blind without any signs of pink eye or other health problems. The Gasconade County Sheriff Deputy who took the report said that the animal obviously did not die of natural causes, but she could find no cause of death. The rancher, suspecting that the animal had been shot, cut back the hide off the head but could find no bullet hole. He asked neighbors if they saw anything unusual in the area but they did not.
The aforementioned are only a few of the case reports I’ve taken since this subject went viral on YouTube and Internet news sites. Surprisingly, the local TV and county newspapers are taking this subject seriously. To date, I’ve logged 30 cow mutilations in the state of Missouri alone since the 1970s, and am beginning to log reports from other states and Canada.
The idea behind the website, which is not limited to MUFON cases, is to collect data and put reports and photos up so other researchers can use this information in their own investigations. The vet’s findings only served to disturb Mitchell even more.
Though he was unable to determine a cause of death, the vet told Mitchell that the cuts were extremely precise, almost surgically so.
Underneath the third cow, there was a mysteriously charred outline of the cow itself. It’s heart had also been cut from its body but left to hang outside the cow.
‘We couldn’t see any signs of trauma, and it doesn’t appear that there was any type of wild animal, such coyotes, that were involved,’ Robert Hills, Henry County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy, told KMOX.
Faced with having found three of her cows, all female, all with their tongues removed, and two with missing reproductive organs dead on her farm, Mitchell is now searching for answers.
Mitchell said some of those questions might have her looking toward the sky.
‘Something happened to these cows and it's not something that you see every day, it's not in your normal, so something else is going on,’ she said.
And the local sheriff’s office isn’t ruling aliens out, either.
‘We’re having to look at this from two sides,’ said Hills. ‘Some people believe that there are aliens that are involved in this or the possibility of the occult going to the other end of the spectrum.’
