Response to New Roswell Report
Filer's Files: Week #24 MUFON Skywatch Investigations
From George A. Filer: MUFON Eastern Director:
The Government is allegedly releasing a new book called, "Roswell Report Case Solved" authored by Captain Jim Mc Andrew, ISBN 99791156 for $52.00. Bill Rose a well known UK aviation author stated, "I was most interested in this new alleged Air Force Roswell 1947 crash explanation relating to Fugo Balloons and a glider or lifting body As I see it, there are two serious faults with the theory, because my own investigations have shown that the Atomic Energy Commission and the CIA only decided to study methods of detecting Soviet nuclear tests in May 1947 and they had a pretty good idea that the Soviets couldn't produce enough plutonium for a bomb until early 1950. This completely discredits Mogul and may does the same for the latest suggestion if nuclear detection is claimed. As things worked out, the first Russian nuclear test took place towards the end of 1949, and was detected by the US and British from airborne particle sampling.
The other problem is the design of this glider/lifting body which is attributed to one or other of the Hortens. The Hortens were actually captured by the British in 1945 and worked for them for several years, so unless the British were fully involved, this part of the story is incorrect. I've now run this report past a couple of very skeptical British aviation buffs, who both think this new explanation is the most plausible story to emerge to date. So if this is a fairly truthful account, then the Pentagon should order the release of all secret files relating to the incident which must include photographs, possibly film and full reports of the crash recovery. Personally, I have very serious doubts about this Air Force theory and don't see why we should be expected to believe a second re-hash of the original cover-story.
